When it comes to the types of therapy available to you at Solution Based Treatment, you have many options. Our team offers a comprehensive level of care that includes individual and group therapy, mental health support, and evidence-based treatment. We also see music therapy as a valuable part of recovery at SBT. You may be well aware of how music boosts your mood in general, but you might be wondering how music therapy assists in treating substance use in particular. Holistic therapies, like music therapy, treat your mind, body, and soul after substance use. Music is closely tied to our emotions, and we use that in our treatment program to foster positive emotions and combat negative emotions.

Our unique music therapy program, Rock to Recovery, is led by a professional team of clean and sober musicians who guide the process, helping clients develop their musical talent and songwriting skills. In this unique program, clients develop their musical prowess and interpersonal skills as a part of their addiction recovery process. We welcome the opportunity to tell you more about all of our therapy programs and specifically how our Rock to Recovery program could be the key to meeting your emotional, physical, and mental needs during treatment and recovery. Our caring and professional team is standing by to answer any questions you may have.

What Is Music Therapy?

At Solution Based Treatment, we believe no one should live without music. In our Rock to Recovery music therapy program, clients get hands-on experience writing lyrics, composing, mixing, and recording songs of their creation on studio recording equipment. You will sing, create, listen, and move along to the music as part of this therapeutic modality. You’ll work alongside professionally trained musicians and music therapists. Music therapy sessions can be on both an individual and group level, tailored to address your needs. In dealing with mental and emotional health challenges as a result of substance abuse, goals of music therapy include:

  • Relaxation
  • Communication
  • Improved quality of life
  • Stronger coping skills
  • Better decision making
  • Stress and anxiety relief
  • Encouraging emotional exploration
  • Reducing the risk of relapse

How Music Can Be an Integral Part of Recovery at SBT

Music – like everything else in life – tends to fall by the wayside for someone living within the confines of addiction. That initial allure of drugs and alcohol may have been to relieve emotional stress and pain, but using music can be an even more attractive way to help manage these same issues. Plus, a hands-on program like music therapy occupies the mind and body, making it easier to avoid substance use. The unique experience of playing music helps repair neural pathways and promotes balanced brain chemistry.

Rock to Recovery at Solution Based Treatment offers an intensive music-based curriculum that focuses heavily on skill-building, self-awareness, conflict resolution, responsibility, and building resilience in a sober group. Our Rock to Recovery curriculum includes personal and professional development exercises that help band people develop creative writing, public speaking, singing, instrumentals, and music production. Participants are provided with a well-rounded, multi-faceted music industry experience.

Music therapy has been shown to help people with the following conditions:

  • Depression
  • Cocaine addiction
  • Opioid addiction
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Meth addiction
  • Dual diagnosis
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
