UMR Insurance Plan Options

UMR, which stands for United Medical Resources, is a subsidiary of United Healthcare Services, an insurance provider. It offers many kinds of insurance plans, ranging from EPO and HMO plans to Medicare and PPO plans. At Solution Based Treatment, we accept UMR PPO plans and HMO plans depending on your specific coverage, allowing you to choose us as your treatment provider.

Addiction Treatment Options

Addiction treatment comes in many forms. Here are some of the different treatment options you may consider when attending a detox or rehab program that takes UMR.

rehabs that accept UMR

UMR for Medical Detox

UMR may cover 100% of medical detox services if you see an in-network provider on an HMO plan or an in- or out-of-network provider on a PPO plan. Solution Based Treatment accepts UMR PPO insurance coverage and some HMO plans. We offer heroin detox and other opioid detox programs, benzodiazepine detox as well as alcohol detox services.

UMR Coverage for Residential Treatment

Rehabs that take UMR may be in- or out-of-network. Rehabilitation treatment at Solution Based Treatment consists of 30, 45 or 60 day residential programs. We accept UMR PPO insurance plans as an out-of-network provider.

UMR Coverage for Outpatient Treatment

UMR may provide coverage for some or all of your outpatient treatments. Preventative care is always 100% covered when it’s within the UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus network, and you’ll save as much as 30% on out-of-network providers’ services.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are programs that consist of several hours of treatment spread throughout several days (if not all days) of the week. UMR may cover IOP programs depending on your specific insurance plan.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) work a little bit like inpatient programs, but you don’t have to stay overnight. Instead, you’ll report to a hospital or facility every day for the majority of the day, returning to your home at night. UMR may cover some or all of the costs associated with PHPs.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment includes services such as group therapy, 12-step programs, and other services that you go to like typical appointments. UMR often covers outpatient treatment, but your specific coverage will vary based on the plan you have.

UMR Rehab Coverage FAQs

Does UMR insurance cover drug and alcohol rehab?

A rehab and detox program UMR insurance covers may be in- or out-of-network depending on the plan you have. Our Admissions Department can verify your benefits and let you know if UMR will cover 100% of your costs.

How can I verify my UMR insurance benefits?

To verify your UMR insurance benefits, contact our Admissions Department at (833) 999-1941. You can also access your health benefits at UMR.com by logging into your account and using the “MyCost” estimator.

Does UMR cover outpatient addiction treatment?

UMR may cover outpatient treatment depending on the plan you have with the insurance provider. We can verify your coverage for our services at Solution Based Treatment in as little as an hour.

Does UMR cover inpatient mental health?

UMR typically covers inpatient mental health care, particularly when you need an inpatient hospital stay. However, every plan is different, and you will need to verify your benefits to ensure coverage. You may also need to get a pre-authorization before seeking this level of care.

Do treatment centers need to be in network?

When you use a UMR PPO plan, you won’t need to look for a provider who’s in your network. If you have an HMO plan, UMR is unlikely to cover the costs associated with out-of-network care.

How much does UMR insurance cover?

The exact amount UMR insurance covers varies by plan. Your deductible, co-pays, preferred provider, and other factors will determine the total cost to you and if UMR will cover 100% of those services.

How do I pay for costs not covered by UMR insurance?

When rehab program UMR insurance doesn’t cover 100% of the costs associated with your care, you will need to make up the difference by paying out of pocket or by finding scholarships or grants for your treatment. Our Admissions Department can chat with you about different options to cover any expenses that UMR doesn’t cover.

How is a UMR HMO different from a PPO?

A UMR HMO will cover costs when you see an in-network provider. On the other hand, PPO plans allow you more flexibility, letting you see out-of-network providers and still retain some coverage. Typically, PPO plans cost more than HMO plans because of this flexibility.

Can you get a single case agreement with UMR?

Yes. UMR has a Continuity of Care form that your provider can fill out to help you get continued coverage despite working with an out-of-network facility. Approval may depend on the situation, so while this form is available, the insurance company has the final say on whether it will allow you to receive full coverage with an out-of-network provider.
